Low in Calories, High in Nutrients Smoothie

After yoga, I blended myself up a tasty, refreshing, renewing smoothing.  I used

  • 1/3 cup acai juice
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened, fat free greek yogurt
  • 1/6 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2/3 banana
  • 3 peach slices
  • 5 blackberries
Altogether, this made 1.5 cups of blended goodness. I just checked was actually really surprised to see how low in calories the smoothie was. I always thought of smoothies as just liquid calories with some nutrients, but I guess it just depends on what ingredients are used. The acai juice, greek yogurt, and almond milk are all very low in calories. The fruit volume came to a total of half a cup, and I'm estimating the total calorie count in the smoothie to be about 200.  I don't think that's too bad considering all the protein and vitamins in the beverage. Besides, a home-made smoothie is better than a store-bought smoothie (unless you injudiciously pack in the unhealthy ingredients).
