Spring break means beer, cake, and organic fruit

Spring break started yesterday at 4:30.  I went home, threw open the shades and invited the sun in.  I busted out my kindle and got ready to sunbathe on the couch.  Also, I cracked open a cold one. Not the usual spring break variety of beer, but Young's Double Chocolate Stout.  The first time I had this, I was like "Oh my god! This is like chocolate milk!" and from then on, I realized beer could taste delicious.

After I started to pour the beer into a glass, I realized the beauty of the beer. The contents of the tumbler turned light and the swirled around in a manner that is far too artistic for something like beer. I snapped a few shots as quickly as I could. They aren't great, but they are satisfactory.

Nice thick head on top, and the sun-catching bubbles are still partying in the middle of the glass.

After the beer settled down a bit, I took a quick pic with the can for good measure.

Today, Steve and I wanted to enjoy the beautiful 60 degree weather, so we meandered over to the neighborhood co-op to pick up some groceries.  Look how delicious this tangelo is!! I want to gobble it up!
mm! fresh, fragrant from fruit the co-op! honeycrisp apples, d'anjou pears, tangelos and avocados.

After our friend Keegan's birthday cake on Thursday, I have been excited to devour even more cakey yummines.  I made a chocolate cake and frosted it with vanilla frosting.  Then, I added some green food coloring, put the frosting in a plastic bag, cup the tip, and tried to decorate the cake. The result is hideous. But it is also funny, so that's why I'm posting it. I didn't even bother to wait for decent light because it's so ugly anyway. I might send it to cakewrecks.com (if you are familiar with that blog). But I will still eat it! I do not discriminate based on looks. It's what's on the inside that matters.  Don't ever forget that.

I wanted to make a four leaf clover. FAIL.
