What's better than street food in Minneapolis? Street food in Minneapolis that started out as street food in Venezuela!
Cool, but what's an arepa? It's a gluten-free bread made of corn. These kind of reminded me of a cross between a bun and a tortilla. South America, I'm sorry if I just insulted you.
Should I write this whole entry in question-and-answer form? I think so.
What's in the vegetarian arepa? Black beans, cotija cheese, guac, some kind of cabbagey stuff. I didn't eat this and I was too absorbed in my own arepa to pay attention to my friend's. Oops. Bad blogger. Anyway, you can ask them to make your arepa vegan.
What's an example of a meaty arepa? Mine had pulled pork, black beans, cotija cheese. The truck had a few types of sauces of varying levels of spice.
oops, started to eat before taking a picture. my bad. my mouth made the arepa ugly, but this proves that the arepa was too delicious to leave alone. |
What awesome stuff is there to drink? Strawberry ginger lemonade (so yummy!), hibiscus iced tea (I think Missy liked it), Mexican coke, etc. I could have also gotten guacamole, chips, and some other sides, but the frugal side of me decided to stick to the basics.
Would I consider eating here again? YES! It was super delicious, and $6 for an arepa is not a bad deal! I highly recommend it. The line looks a little intimidating (there were probably 15 people in front of us) but moved pretty efficiently. DO it! Go to 6th and Marquette and eat some awesome street food!
